Terms of Service

Last updated: June 1, 2026

1. Agreement

By creating a MonkMode account, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter binding contracts.

2. The service

MonkMode is an accountability platform. You can create or join challenges that require you to meet a daily health goal (verified via connected wearable data — Whoop or Oura). If you fail to meet your goal on a given day, MonkMode charges your saved payment method a stake amount you agreed to when joining the challenge.

3. Wearable data

You authorize MonkMode to read specific data from your connected wearable account (Whoop or Oura) for the sole purpose of scoring your challenges. You can revoke access at any time from settings or your wearable account, which will pause active enrollments.

4. Stakes and strikes

Each challenge defines: a stake per missed day, a maximum number of strikes allowed, and a duration. You acknowledge that:

  • You will be charged the stake amount automatically each day you do not meet the goal, up to the maximum number of strikes.
  • On your final strike, the challenge fails. No refunds are issued for already-charged misses.
  • Charges only fire on actual missed days. Hitting all goals = $0 charged.

5. Authorization to charge (off-session)

You explicitly authorizeMonkMode and its payment processor (Stripe) to charge your saved payment method without further interaction (an “off-session” charge), each day you fail to meet your goal, up to the maximum exposure shown at the time of joining each challenge. The exact dollar amounts and strike counts are displayed and acknowledged in the join flow before any authorization is captured.

If a charge fails for any reason (insufficient funds, authentication required, lost card), MonkMode will notify you and may pause your enrollment until the payment method is updated.

6. Disputes and refunds

Stakes successfully charged for missed days are non-refundable. If you believe a charge was made in error (e.g., your wearable data was misread, a system bug), contact support within 30 days and we will review the underlying evaluation data.

7. Account termination

You can close your account at any time from settings. Active enrollments must be completed or canceled first. We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent activity.

8. Limitation of liability

MonkMode is provided as-is. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including but not limited to health outcomes, loss of streaks, or wearable hardware failures.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified by email. Continued use after notification constitutes acceptance.
